MARYDEL, Delaware - January 18, 2010 – The first Rosenbauer fire apparatus has been sold in
Carroll County, Maryland. The Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department recently awarded a contract
to Rosenbauer to construct their new pumper.
Built on a Spartan Gladiator LFD chassis with a 10” raised roof, the cab will feature seating for six
firefighters. The unit will be powered by a Caterpillar C-13 525 horsepower motor and an Allison
4000EVS automatic transmission. The chassis will also feature Meritor EX225 17” front disc brakes
and Alcoa polished aluminum wheels.
The 3/16” formed aluminum body will be built at Rosenbauer’s manufacturing facility in Lyons,
South Dakota and house a 1,000-gallon, L-shaped water tank. The body design will feature fullheight,
full-depth compartments on each side that will be 28” deep from top to bottom that will
house a wide array of shelves and trays for equipment and tool mounting. Wheelwell storage
compartments will offer storage for eight SCBA bottles. Whelen LED warning lights will be located
throughout the vehicle.
An Onan 8kW hydraulic generator will power various FRC quartz lights including (1) brow light,
(2) telescoping lights at the pump panel, and a pair of tripods on the rear of the body. A Hannay
electrical reel with 200’ of cord will be located in the dunnage area above the Waterous CSU singlestage
pump that will flow 1500 GPM.
